About the Program

Tools and die professionals make precision equipment using their machining skills, either manually or through computer automation. Most of the industries, where equipment or parts of a particular mould, are required use the services of tools and die manufacturers. In the recent years most of the die-making process has been taken over by computer-aided designs, which are fed as a prototype for the final tools and dies to be manufactured.

A bachelor’s degree in tool and die manufacturing is a good option for students to acquire basic tool and die manufacturing skills.

In association with JBM Group, SVSU uses latest technologies like Process Modelling, Rapid Prototyping, Rapid Tooling, Electric Discharge Machining (EDM), Electro Chemical Machining (ECM), and 3-D printing, are used for their optimal design / efficient fabrication.

B.Voc. in Tool & Die Manufacturing is aligned with NSQF guidelines in Dual Educational System. While SVSU provides teaching of subjects and the skills are learned by students as part of “On-the-Job-Training (OJT)” at the shop floor of our industry partner JBM Group, Gurugram. OJT enables students to learn designing and fabrication of Tools & Dies in totality of processes and their application for mass production of various items/assemblies in various industries like Automobile, Textile, Plastics, Packaging, etc., by working in various functional areas on shop floor.

The focus of this programme is to prepare the students to work on conventional machines, Welding machines, CNC machines, Wire-cut EDM, Laser machine, Jig boring machine, Press machines, Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM), and learn fitting activities, process planning, estimation and costing of manufacturing and maintenance of Tool and Die.

OJT, Programme Model and Pedagogy:

SVSU has built a strong partnership with the Industry to facilitate students’ employability and entrepreneurship through the On-the-Job Training (OJT). The university has designed, developed and deployed Industry Integrated Dual Education Model (IIDEM) that facilitates “Earn-while-Learn” and provides the students with the opportunity to enhance their qualification with flexibility of entry and exit into a program. HVSU has conceptualised the IIDEM program, which is designed in such a manner where 60 percent of the credits are earned while working on the OJT or on National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), wherever applicable. The students shall also earn stipend for that period. The classroom training shall be imparted by the SVSU faculty and other industry experts. The curriculum is based on theoretical and conceptual training as well as OJT. Practical and workshop experience are the key components of the overall training methodology. Forty percent of the credits shall come from the theoretical and conceptual training. The entire pedagogy is designed to develop application-based learning that will make students job-ready by earning industry work experience and learning the technical concepts hands-on.
